The challenge
The goal was to design and build a casual puzzle game that could stand out in the crowded App Store. The game needed to feel polished and performant while remaining accessible to players of all skill levels.
Standing out meant more than just gameplay. Every interaction needed to feel satisfying -- from the physics of each collision to the visual feedback on every match. Performance could not be compromised for visual quality.
The approach
We built a physics-based match-3 game with a custom animation engine optimized for smooth, consistent frame rates. Every design decision was filtered through one question: does this make the game feel better to play?
We focused relentlessly on 60fps performance and juice -- the small animations and feedback that make a game feel great. Haptic feedback, particle effects, and smooth transitions were layered throughout the experience to reward every player action.
