Daily Lectio

The challenge was to build a daily devotional reading app that works reliably in areas with poor or no internet connectivity. Users in rural communities and developing regions needed access to daily scripture readings without depending on a stable connection.

Beyond connectivity, the app needed to feel native, personal, and distraction-free. It had to integrate deeply with iOS through widgets and background audio while remaining simple enough for users of any technical skill level.

We designed an offline-first architecture that pre-downloads content and caches it locally. Content syncs silently whenever connectivity is available, so users never notice the complexity happening behind the scenes.

The reading experience was built to be clean and distraction-free, with adjustable text sizes, dark mode, and bookmarking. We added interactive home screen widgets using WidgetKit and background audio playback so users can listen to readings throughout their day.
